Very little sets the mood for the season more than the right music. I’m always looking for more of it to make the holiday better, as I’m sure you are, too. So, I’ve shared with you a handful of songs from my own Halloween Playlist. I hope you enjoy them as much as I repeatedly do. It really isn’t Halloween without these guys. Did I miss any? Feel free to let me know what you think in the comment section.

The biggest problem with this track is that it’s only about a minute and a half long. I love listening to it over and over again. It really says fall to me. It has a bit of melancholy that sort of hangs in the fall air as you look around at the dying leaves and almost sunless afternoons, but it also has a touch of wonder and mystery that comes with the following holiday. I’d love to have a lot more tracks like this one. You won’t be sorry.
Fall Fest ~ Tomandandy – The Covenant Soundtrack
This playful little tune comes from Disney’s “Winnie The Pooh’s Boo To You, Too”. It’s another one that I’d like to be longer as it’s only a little more than a minute. I included this one because it’s, basically, what Halloween is about: spooky innocence. One of the chorus lines is, “I wanna scare myself, and everyone else.” Tigger sings this song to convey his disappointment about not Trick-or-Treating when Piglet is too scared to go. I feel your pain, my friend.
I Wanna Scare Myself ~ Tigger – Halloween Songs & Sounds
Who isn’t a fan of “The Nightmare Before Christmas”? The opening track sets the tone for the entire movie. Manson’s version, however, adds a bit more edginess to the holiday than what the original brings. Sometimes, you want something a little more adult.
This Is Halloween ~ Marilyn Manson – Nightmare Revisited
Again, this song speaks to the mood of the holiday. What says Halloween more than a dab of superstition. Plus, it has a sort of rhythmic discord to it that goes right along with the Halloween spirit. Not to mention, it has such a great beat that you can’t help but sing along.
Superstition ~ Stevie Wonder
I first heard this tune when I was a kid, as part of one of those Disney music specials. It’s zany, to say the least. It has the mystery and unpredictability that goes with Halloween. It’s what a Halloween fun-house would be if a witch cast a spell on the fun-house and turned it into a song.
That Old Black Magic ~ Spike Jones
True to its name, this tune sounds like what a child’s wind-up music box might if it wereset with a dark, and lonely looking house on a hill. It has the child-like soothing quality to it, as most music box tunes do, but with an unsettling, ghostly feel mixed in: the kind of tune that conveys the calm disquiet that goes with the act of being dead.
Ghostly Music Box ~ Music Box – The Haunted Mansion Soundtrack
This is one of my most favorite Halloween tunes. It comes from Disney’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, and, even though it was made long before I was born, it’s still a great tune. It might actually be scary if Bing Crosby just kept talking about the various types of demons and monsters. However, the rest of the tune gives it a sort of relaxing playfulness. Now, the version I’ve included here is the studio version. The version that’s heard in the cartoon is much better. Unfortunately, I can’t find it outside of the film. Until I can get the right copy of it, I’ll post this one.
The Headless Horseman (Studio Version) ~ Bing Crosby

“Walking On Air” by Kerli : With its soft trilling notes and eerie imagery, this song has an undeniably creepy air to it. While the chorus is surprisingly catchy and upbeat, the song still manages to maintain an overall ghostly tone throughout, making it perfect for a Halloween playlist.
